Bible Study - God the Master Gardener

A Study to Help Parents of Children with Special Needs Live the Life God has Chosen for Them

Have you noticed the Bible is full of gardening references? Of the 32 parables mentioned in the New International Version of the Bible, one-quarter of them are about gardening. In several Bible verses, God is referred to as the gardener.

• John 15:1 states “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.”
• Genesis 1 describes God’s creation of vegetation that produced fruit and seeds on the third day, even before he separated the day from the night on the fourth day.
• Genesis 2: 8-9 states “Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed. And the Lord God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground – trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food.”

What is the first thing God put in the garden he planted? Man. That’s right. God not only planted all kinds of trees, He ‘planted’ Adam there. In this study, we will look at God’s ability to plant us in the right place, to prune out the canes in our lives, and to help us bear much fruit!
